It's not just a software program, and BTW Windows has supported ACPI since Win98. It is SUPPOSED to be in Windows 10, but I don't know if the latest issue of Windows 10 actually has it. ACPI is the Advanced Configuration and Power Interface created by Intel, Microsoft and Toshiba which is a power management program to turn off power to components not being used. It might be wise to visit the manufacturer site after Intel (in my example - your chipset might not be Intel) installs the generic driver to see if the manufacturer has a driver more specific to your computer. Sometimes manufacturers create modified drivers for their equipment. Note, this does not mean you have the best driver for your computer. Intel (for example) has the Intel Driver Update Utility that can scan your computer and install generic drivers for the Intel products it finds. For example, if you are running an Intel processor, go to. Since you already checked with Microsoft, check with the manufacturer of the chipsets on your computer. Is anyone working on this problem? Or is this just something I have to live with until I get a new laptop? Just curious. I also tried the Windows Update driver feature to no avail. I checked HP's website and there are no updated drivers.
The only other issue is in Device Manager, there is an unknown driver called ACPI HPQ0004 3&11583659&0.
After upgrading, it always stays amber, but the function itself still works fine. When muting is activated, the button turns amber. The only glitch is the f9 key, which controls the volume muting feature. Everything is, for the most part, working smoothly. I have an HP Laptop I purchased in 2010 and recently upgraded to Windows 10. ACPI HPQ0004 device driver for Windows 7, XP, 10, 8, and 8.1.
